thank you Alice its exactly why i did it i want to break the silence of birth moms take away the stigma and show its as easy as a social drink with friends one or two at a time and not every night. there has been a bit of tongue lashing on the trade me message boards which i truly expected. its been funny watching it all unfold and seems a lot of my family and friends have taken offence to the narrow minded quick to judge people on there. if it means we have to keep repeating the message then i will do so. i want to take away that its always statistics and put a face an average face to the condition that it can happen to anyone and it doesn't take much at all. its still a taboo subject by many and well im here to to my part and i guess pay penitence for my mistake that i do so regret but i cant change it now. i can only deal with the consequences of my actions.
Good to see this information being repeated. It's the only way to ensure everyone hears it. What a brave woman to openly share her story, and risk being ridiculed, in the hope it reaches other women. The only thing to come from ridicule and criticism is women hiding that they drank and therefore their children not receiving the proper help from an early age when it can really make a life-changing difference to them.Like anything preventable, the more it is talked about the more likely it is that it will happen less and less. Which I think is the point of this woman coming out publicly.I say Well Done and all the best to her and her son in the future.
Yes, pregnant women are asked during pre-natal screening. The problem is not everyone is truthful as the question is worded wrong. Do you drink?- No I don't. Have you consumed any alcohol at all during pregnancy?- Actually yes, I had a glass of wine occasionally. But one glass doesn't do any harm, right?
Because their idiots!!!
Silly me "Were a third of all mothers" should have read "Were all mothers" blah blahCheers!!!Jim
Where do these people get these statistics from? Were a third of all mothers who have given birth to a child (this year alone)asked? One would suspect someone is trying to trump up their own agenda ... like Wilce!!!
