The world's top golfer Tiger Woods and former model Elin Nordegren who were side by side for six years are now going their separate ways.

In a statement they say.

"We are sad that our marriage is over and we wish each other the very best for the future.

“While we are no longer married we are the parents of two wonderful children and their happiness has been and always will be of paramount importance to us both."

Tiger Woods can't find his form on the course or avoid questions about his private life off it. At the British Open last month his face was long and his answers short.

"I'm just trying to become a better person. That starts one day at a time," says Woods.

It was one night last November that the world started to see the cracks.

A car crash after an argument came his admission of adultery and his apology.

"I ask you to find room in your heart, to one day, believe in me again," says Woods.

Sports and management crisis expert Jason Maloni believes Woods can bounce back.

"Sponsors aren't going to trust him in the way they used but he certainly can come back. He can absolutely regain trust, he can regain sponsors. He's just not going to be the old Tiger,” says Maloni.

Tiger Woods is said to be worth $US 600 million. It's thought the couple signed a pre-nuptial agreement.

How much Elin get she get? Well the marriage may be over, the speculation isn't.
