Ball season has arrived and here are some tips on how to rock the red carpet!!
Ball night may well be one of the most memorable nights in your life- second only to your wedding.
You've got your dream dress, your 'to-die-for' shoes; all you need now is fabulous hair and make up.
If you've blown your budget on your dress and can’t stretch for a professional make up artist, here are some tips for you to work your magic with.
Skin Care
A radiant look starts with good skin. Leading up to the big day take extra care with your skincare regime.
Stick to brands used in the past to avoid any breakouts or irritations.
Cleanse well daily, and do some gentle exfoliations according to the product instructions, to remove dead skin cells to give skin that healthy glow.
Moisturise morning and night.
Hydrate!! Drink plenty of water to keep skin supple and rid the body of toxins.
We love Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream.
Primer
To start your Make up, moisturise lightly as usual, don’t use anything too oily or your make up will slide off.
Prime: An important step if you want to party all night and have your make up last the distance.
Apply very lightly with fingers using a patting motion, around eye/lip area and over T-zone.
Let this settle on the skin before applying foundation.
Great ones to try: Clarins Instant Smooth or Napoleon primer
Foundation
Probably one of the worst make up blunders would be the wrong shade of foundation, don’t get it wrong!
Ask professionals at the make-up counters for advice. Check foundations on your jawline - not your hands - the skin is totally different.

Foundation needs to match your décolletage. If you have self tanned, make sure your face matches your neck/décolletage.
Remember to blend, blend, blend. No blotches or lines. If you’re not used to using foundations then go for an easy to use Mineral powder, such as L'Oreal Mineral or MAC Face and Body.
Eye Make-up
Get ideas from Fashion Mags, Music videos, and friends on great eye make up.
If you think your eyes are your best feature, play them up. Go strong and smoky. Or bright and colourful.
Peruse and play at make-up counters with new season colours.
Accentuate your natural eye colour or the dress you’re wearing. Have fun!
Try L'Oreal Colour Mineral Eye Shadow or MAC Mineralized Baked Eyeshadows.
LipstickThere are so many lippies out there, it’s just a matter of finding what you love.
A good rule of thumb though is if you've gone strong on eyes don’t go too strong on lips and visa-versa.
Just choose if you want the matt look or the gloss look- and 'wear it like you mean it'
Yummy ones: Poppy King Lipstick Queen (if you’re after a Hot Red) or try MAC Dazzleglass.
Tips
Don’t forget your décolletage- the colour must match your face, or it will stand out like dogs - especially in photos.
Eyelash curlers are a godsend and addictive. So are cerise lash extensions and party lashes.
A good self tan, spray Tan, or even a good bronzer will make a big difference to the overall look and your confidence.
I like Piz Buin Summer Sensation Tinted Lotion, Elizabeth Arden and Kahlia's Spray tan.
Paint your nails. Nothing worse than nasty nails. Your date will notice.
Try L'Oreals New Resist &Shine.

Remember you are youthful and naturally beautiful so less is more. Don’t over-do it. Or you may look back on photos in years to come and wonder 'what was I thinking?!'
