The weather forecast in Antarctica is being closely watched this morning as family members of those lost in the Erebus disaster wait to see if they can travel to the crash site.
This morning is the last chance for six family members flown to Antarctica to visit the site of the Mt Erebus tragedy.
Six relatives have spent the weekend at Scott Base, but bad weather has prevented them from landing at the site where flight 901 crashed 30 years ago.
This morning the group is hoping to lay wreaths and a capsule containing special messages as a memorial at the site.
Scott Base spokesman Simon Trotter says conditions look better than they did during the first attempt on Friday.
Memorial services were held in Antarctica, Auckland and Christchurch over the weekend to mark the anniversary of the tragedy.
The group will travel back to Christchurch later this morning.
