Missing toddler Alyssa Barker has been found.

The 18-month-old was last seen last night in Glen Eden with Skye Mason, 27, who had briefly stayed with Alyssa's family near Kaukapakapa.

Police say a woman who watched the 6pm news tonight recognised the woman and child who were staying with her as Mason and Alyssa.

She then waited until they were asleep before ringing the police at 9:15pm to notify them of their whereabouts.

Alyssa will be reunited with her family soon.

Police say Alyssa is well and doesn’t seem to be suffering any ill-effects as a result of her 36-hour absence.

Detective Inspector Stan Brown said he and his staff were delighted to be able to return Alyssa to her family and very grateful to media for their support during what was a nervous search.

“This is one story that does not have a tragic end for a child and for that, we are very happy.”

Mason is in police custody.

On 'The Nation' Addressing people as 'Miss'... Why would we do that? Subliminal maybe. Offensive, yes! Long live patriarchy.. And the support of that by women. Shame.

Yea, see folks some good things happen, little one is safe, and the family reunite, Finally the news has something to hear that isn't doom and gloom, as a mother, i can't imagine the pain the parents felt, or the absolute glee today they have.

Thanks our to great! God! Alyssa has been found and she's OK! thank you to the person who called police and to the media for broadcasting this important information as the leading story (also everyone who put time etc in to find her. Hopefully Skye won't get that horrible, horrible! *how can she be a judge* judge, who let that sick comedian get away with sexually abusing is very young 3-4 year old daughter. She (the judge) would probably let Skye go free without charge, because the world needs homeless people blah blah blah.

Thank god, I thought that this might have turned into another 2-month search for a missing girl. Thanks to the New Zealand Police force and the anonymous woman for her assertiveness.

Such brilliant news she has been found safe and well. I had heard the helicopters flying over my place in Solar Road, Glen Eden last night, today and this evening, and had posted on Facebook hoping to spread the word she was missing. I hope that the woman gets the treatment that she needs because she must have been desparate to take a baby that was not hers.
