Tom Cruise insists he has never had a big “ego”.
The 47-year-old actor has been one of the world’s biggest movie stars for the past 25 years. He loves being a celebrity, but insists he has never let fame go to his head.
“I have never let my ego grow – I’m aware that I am just an actor,” he said. “I have a ball with people and I feel thankful when they scream my name at a movie premiere.”
Tom shot to fame when he starred in Risky Business in 1983. Since then, he has made a conscious effort to stay true to himself despite the glamorous lifestyle he leads.
“In the past 25 years I’ve witnessed how my life and my reality have been completely distorted, twisted and exaggerated,” he told the British edition of OK! magazine.
“I have to continue being myself even though sometimes it takes a huge effort. I also recognise that I’ve been a lucky man. I have a privileged life.”
