Tom Cruise is in negotiations to star in the film adaptation of HP Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness.
Moviemakers Guillermo Del Toro and James Cameron are onboard to direct and produce the project, respectively.
The film will start shooting in June.
Cameron suggested Cruise was interested in leading the cast last year.
The plot revolves around a group of explorers who discover buried sleeping aliens during an expedition in Antarctica and attempt to wake them.
