Tony Veitch has got his old job back at Radio Sport.

The controversial broadcaster will be the sole host of Radio Sport’s breakfast show, starting in the new year.

Veitch lost the job in 2008 after an assault case involving his then partner Kristin Dunne-Powell.

The former TVNZ sports presenter received nine months’ supervision, 300 hours community service and was fined $10,000.

Veitch returned to Radio Sport in at the beginning of the year where he has been reading sports news and being used as a back-up presenter.

Veitch replaces D’Arcy Waldergrave who will move to Radio Sport’s drive-time slot.

Former New Zealand cricketer Mark Richardson who co-hosts the breakfast show with Waldergrave will cease working for Radio Sport. He also works for Sky TV.

If Tony had gone to court in the first place he would have probably been granted a diversion as a first time offender instead he decided to cover it up (big mistake as it turns out). Tony is still a prat however I think its great that Tony has been allowed to return to radio sports.

This is so typical on NZ - ignore the fact the guy admited to domestic violence. No wonder we have so many domestic violence and child abuse cases in this country. if its ok for a public figure to do it then its ok for anyone to. Radio Sport is saying its ok by hiring him back. Nice one

I certainly will not miss Darcy - just not funny, and does not appear to have much knowledge about sport.
Everyone deserves a second chance, whether he deserves this will be decided by the public. For mine, I'm not perfect so until I am, will do my best not to judge...

I am disgusted he is returning. He did not show any remorse for the terrible domestic violence, he just showed pity for himself for it going public. In my opinion he has lost the right to be a public figure. Will not be tuning in.

Well done Tony, I did not agree with the media circus that surrounded you after the Kristen incident. Well done on getting yourself back to work. I will certainly be listening to you when you return.
