The Ministry of Education continues to get things wrong with Christchurch's schools

There are so many mistakes in the Christchurch schools announcements - basic details, wrong crucial facts, and when schools try to get to the bottom of things they're repeatedly being denied ministry documents, by the Ministry itself.

An email Campbell Live has obtained today appears to suggest the Christchurch City Council even considers not telling the truth about the whereabouts of documents concerning school closures in Christchurch.

Natasha Utting has an exclusive report.

I would love to see Campbell Live do an investigation into the current legislation going through parliament - the exemption of Charter schools from OIA is a big concern - Charter have tax payer money but won't be accountable. How does a country like ours allow this kind of shambles to occur? Who is monitoring this? In terms of the Christchurch fiasco, the ministry has a history of inaccuracies - the level of blatant lies and misinformation that was fed to the pubic and to the Minister on the closure of Aorangi in Chch was simply incompetent and alarming. Perhaps that school was the catalyst and blueprint for the inaccuracies with these current closures. The similarities are scarily similar.

The secretary should be the Minister. Too bad that this Blue govt prefers witless figure heads more than ever! John you should have pushed against her silly comments that it is catastrophic for the “one” that isn’t getting paid correctly. She mentioned that over 10 000 people are not getting paid correctly, meaning over 10%. Come on. 30 million for a system that screws up the lives of one in ten???? Why did MY money get wasted on bad programming run by lazy business people. Or are these people just the result of our silly NCEA credit counting system? Teachers deserve to be paid correctly and they should be paid for every hour they work.

Read 'The Shock Doctrine' by Naomi Klein, it explains exactly why this is happening. We have had a huge natural disaster that permitted the government to take advantage of the shocked populace. The book allows you to delve into the tactics that economists want to implement and why.

This is not just bureaucratic bungling - this is part os something that is being imposed on the people of Christchurch who are already coping with the affects of the earthquakes. It is yet another example of a system acting outside the law and in an unaccountable manner. Once again congrats to Campbell for being the only one to delve into this1

If Campbell Live wasn't on the ball we would not know about this through any other forum. So thanks John. The Minister and her MOE must have known that questions about the School Rebuilds would be asked. What sort of organisation is it that it is so badly run? Is the CEO Longstone competent? Yeah right!
