Campground operators in the eastern Bay of Plenty say ongoing bad weather is impacting the usually busy holiday season.

Justine Noles, operations manager at the Ohope Holiday Camp, says operators are feeling the effects.

“This time of the year is a huge tourist time for us all. We generally double the numbers of Ohope over our peak time through new years and certainly we didn’t reach our peak through new years as we would normally,” said Ms Noles.

Justine Noles says some campers have left early because of the rain and others have cancelled their bookings.
