Tourist in court after motorcyclists die

A Chinese tourist charged after two motorcyclists were killed in a crash in Lindis Pass has been granted name suppression.
The 20-year-old woman appeared before a registrar in Alexandra District Court on Tuesday facing two charges of careless driving causing death after the fatal collision on Monday afternoon.
Grant John Roberts, 43, of Timaru, and Dennis Michael Pederson, 54, of Tauranga, died at the scene of the crash about 19km north of Tarras.
The motorcyclists had been travelling as part of a group. A 26-year-old woman who was a pillion passenger was flown to Dunedin Hospital with serious injuries.
The tourist was bailed to reappear in court next month, the Otago Daily Times reports.
