Train, Christina Aguilera and Michael Buble are among the acts offering up new festive tunes for the 25th anniversary A Very Special Christmas album project.

Train frontman Pat Monahan announced the release of two albums, which will both hit retailers in October and benefit the Special Olympics organisation, in Nashville, Tennessee on Monday.

He told reporters, "This has been the Christmas album that we all look at each year and go, 'How come we're not on it?' Now we get to say that we're on it."

Train will record 'Joy to the World' for one of the albums.

The all-star albums will compete for spots on the charts at the end of the year with festive releases from Rod Stewart, Blake Shelton and former Everything but the Girl star Tracey Thorn.
