Train services north of Porirua have been disrupted after a woman was struck by a train.
The woman, believed to be in her 30s or 40s, was taken by ambulance to Wellington Hospital with critical injuries after being struck by the train on tracks in Papakowhai, by Porirua Harbour, about 11:10am today.
A KiwiRail spokeswoman said buses were replacing commuter trains between Porirua and Waikanae until the all-clear was received.
State Highway 1 adjacent to the tracks was briefly closed but traffic was moving shortly after the incident.
