For women with curly hair who want it straight, there could now be a Kiwi solution.
The straightening treatment claims to tame the wildest manes. It’s based on keratin – a by-product of sheep’s wool – and developed right here in New Zealand.
The smoothing treatment last for four months, and can also repair damaged hair.
Campbell Live put it to the test with Richelle and her long wavy locks, and Caron, who has tight spiral curls.
“I’ve been growing it for a while and it just keeps growing out, rather than down,” she says.
The treatment is massaged through the hair, combed, blow dried, and then straightened. Each section is flattened out with hot irons eight to 10 times – with dramatic results.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen it this straight before,” Richelle says when her treatment is complete.
It’s not just the look – it’s practical too.
“If it’s going to give me back half my morning, then I definitely can’t complain,” Richelle says.
The end result is a complete transformation.
Rather than drying the hair, Caron says the treatment has left her hair feeling “fabulous”.
“It’s really soft.”
As with all beauty, the treatment comes at a price. It costs between $250 to up around $400 – depending on the length and thickness of the hair.
“The treatment did take a while, I feel like I’ve got ants in my pants now,” Caron says.
“But if it’s going to last for four months, it’s going to be well and truly worthwhile.”
The development is putting an end to good hair days, replacing them with good hair months, all over the world.
