Red-zoned houses in the Christchurch suburb of Bexley will be bulldozed in a "trial" clearance starting on Monday.
A trial cluster of 11 properties in Seabreeze Close, Waireka Lane and Kokopu Lane, which have been bought by the government, will be cleared over the next four weeks by contractor Faulks Investment.
Four homes in the area are still occupied, and the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA) says it will work with those home owners and the wider community to keep them up to date.
The affected residents were informed of the clearance last week, the authority says.
CERA chief executive Roger Sutton, Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee and demolitions general manager Warwick Isaacs will release more details of the clearance process later on Monday.
