Paul lived his life to the full, but I'm also reminded of the scripture-'what shall it profit a man if he gain the whole world and lose his own soul'.I only hope Paul made it to heavens glory ,and he did if he believed four of the most important verses in scripture-Acts 16:31- 'believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved'and 1 cor.15:4-'how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, that he was buried and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures'.Also, the words of Jesus Christ himself-'I am the Way,the Truth and the Life-no man cometh unto the Father, but by me', and 'it is appointed unto men once to die,but after this the judgement' Yes,Paul was a man who lived life to the full and gave pleasure to many people, but ultimately the last words come from the Lord Himself-'He that rejecteth me and recieveth not my words hath one that judgeth him:the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him at the last day'.I hope Paul made it.

I will remember Sir Paul as being so much part of our daily lives for many years. Whether it was starting our day with him on the radio, being entertained by him at the end of the day on TV – I used to love his aside comments to the studio crew, reading his newspaper articles or books, singing on his own CD, developing ‘his farm’ which he spoke of so warmly, his family which he obviously adored, producing olive oil, crashing his planes; Sir Paul lived his life to the full, and shared so much of it with NZ. It is such a sad day to have lost such a journalistic icon and character. To his family and friends I hope that the out pouring of love and respect for Sir Paul from so many NZer's and from those who worked with him will over time bring some comfort to you all.

Holmesy.Through-out your life-time you touched so many with your brilliant verbal resonance. You gave wording and meaning to so much and we are for-ever grateful.I am sure Denis Connor rues to this day he was interviewed by you.But never mind it was great tv at the time. Now as you head off to the Happy Hunting Ground(as the North American Indians call the here-after)I must say we NZers view it as a privilege to have ever had such a wonderful person in our lives even when on tv or on the radio. A Mighty Tree has fallen.Long may you remain in our memories.
