Mountain biking sensation Anton Cooper has arrived home in New Zealand after success overseas.

The 17-year-old North Canterbury teenager returned to Christchurch today after creating a bit of history in Europe over the past six weeks.

Cooper won twice in Italy and the Czech Republic – the first New Zealander to do so – and then claimed the silver medal at the world Under-19 championships in Switzerland.

He's impressed many with his speed stamina and technical skills, though at just 1.64 metres tall and around 50kg, Cooper's one of the smallest riders around.

Cooper has big ambitions, already talking about the 2014 Commonwealth Games in 2014 and beyond.
