Hone Harawira

Hone Harawira

Hone Harawira in trouble again. Over the past few days, 60 Minutes reporter Paula Penfold has been alongside the Maori activist turned politician, finding out what it’s like to be in the line of fire, why he’s so angry and what he really thinks of Pakeha.

She’s been behind the scenes with him during the latest controversies, meeting the real Hone Harawira.

We are all immigrants to this nation... Yes, you too Hone. I'm a 5th generation far north pakeha, and I'm going nowhere, as much as "Hone Hatespeech" would like me too. Hone can go back to Taiwan (earliest ancestral home of Maori), if he's so unhappy here. p.s.- Please take Mum with you.

Harawira is a racist coward who dosn't have the guts to make constructive changes to our county by unifying its people. His winging protests are so pathetic its hard not to laugh. You are not a warrior Harawira you are a joke.

By younger, I don't mean that I don't think the younger generation does'nt know anything, I am not that stupid, but you have to look to the past, to secure the future, to ensure the same mistakes are not made. Look at it this way, he's probably the most honest politician around, he even shit's on his own party or keeps them on their toes

When will Maori be allowed to be Maori? Why must we always hear "one people one nation"? Whos is this one people? Does this one nation include celebrating the tangata whenua? Is it Fred Dagg or some English notion or maybe we should be Ozzies? Do we moan when David Tua says hes from Samoa by way of Auckland? When hes proud to be Samoan and carries two flags does that piss as many rednecks off as when Maori say they are Maori and be proud?

And referring to us as simply the 'younger' is an underestimation of our abilities, as it is us...the younger...that are the future of New Zealand, and us who have to solve these issues. It would be naiive of you to think we don't understand that life has been lived as it affects us everyday, just as it affects you.

Looking into the past is important I agree but if we are always looking backwards how can we move forward?
He won't even call himself a New Zealander...?? It just seems that he doesn't want equality, he wants superiority.

no, it is people like you, younger, whom don't understand the life that has been lived, of this man. I am of maori, scottish and irish decent, i am as middle of the road as you can get. look into the past, otherwise you know nothing.
look at what has happened, and if you belive the media, because everything is edited, don't belive all you hear or see.

It is people like Hone Harawera that are stopping New Zealand and 'New Zealanders' from moving forward and excelling as a united front. I am 19 years old and I am troubled by the race relation issues that I am and will in future have to confront as a New Zealander. Until we all believe ourselves to be New Zealanders, we cannot move forward. Hone and others who share his attitude are a hindrance to this beautiful country.
