Truly Scrumptious

Wed, 01 Jul 2009 12:00a.m.

Last Friday was my cousin's "Curly Wurly Wedding". From beginning to end it was a beautiful, sweet, tantalising affair.

They had a clear theme of 'chocolate madness" which began the moment all the guests received the extremely innovative and original 'chocolate bar invitations' pictured below. This theme was carried out throughout the day complete with each guest receiving a curly wurly (or several), as the Bride and Groom were to be Mr and Mrs Curl!!

The colours were hot fuchsia pink and lime green - which complimented the beautiful old converted brick barn beautifully, the food was to die for- including canapés consisting of bite sized Yorkshire puds with onion and roast beef - YUM!

The place was awash with thoughtfully dressed guests, ladies and men alike - loads of bright colours and STUNNING hats- god I love English weddings if only for the hats!!!!

Some of the other beautiful details were:

- The tables were all named after Chocolate Bars
- The 'cake' was made entirely out of cheeses that were then all laid out after dessert -YUM
- A birdcage to post your cards into
- There was a section of wall scattered with pegs dedicated for one thing only- "Give your head a rest and peg your hat here"

The atmosphere all day was one of excitement, delighted pleasure and overflowing love for the popular couple from their 151 guests.

But I think how you can really tell it's a good wedding is by the casualties... OR maybe that's how you can tell that there was an excess of alcohol available!?

There were 2 casualties at the Curly Wurly Wedding, me being one of them!!!

A woman unfortunately managed to somehow face plant onto gravel and scrape up most of her face- no permanent damage luckily!

And I got accidentally jumped on one foot by a stiletto (during the last dance luckily). Again no permanent damage luckily but I do have a great stiletto shaped war wound!

So then of course out came all the "I Hurt Myself Doing X At So-and-So's Wedding" and the "So-and-So did X at My Wedding" stories, and it appears to be VERY common.

So my theory is if crappy things happen to other people on your wedding day- it must mean loads of good luck for you!!

Don't 'they' always say when crappy things happen to you it actually means good luck?
E.g. Bird pooing on you; rain on your wedding day.

I'm aiming for 3 casualties on our wedding day- Cos I definitely don't want to get pooed on or for it to rain!!!

I'm getting married to my childhood sweetheart in Feb 2010. We live in our own home in Auckland, along with our 3 adorable, time consuming Meows. I'm creative, opinionated, indecisive, organised, imaginative, a little crazy and not very good at keeping quiet about things that excite me... so this is going to be my perfect playground!
