David Tua’s trainer is refusing to work with the boxer again after waiting three months to be paid for prepping the heavyweight for his bou with American fighter Monte Barrett.

It’s understood that despite repeated requests, Tua has yet to front up with the cash for trainer Chris Martin’s work before the fight.

At first the delay was attributable to Tua's tardiness in collecting his pay packet for the fight from Sky TV. Sources said that may have been related to his ongoing issues with the IRD.

It’s also believed delays were a result of Tua’s tardiness in pocketing his bout fee from Sky TV, with some suggesting his ongoing struggle with the IRD being the cause.

Tua owes $3 million in back taxes.

Sky boss John Fellet said the company released the funds of Tua’s part of the pay-per-view bout last month. It’s understood Martin approached Tua after this, but was rebuffed.

Fellet refused to comment on whether Tua would be gunning for a new bout next March.
