Social networking site Twitter is abuzz with jokes about disgraced ex-Defence official Stephen Wilce, who resigned yesterday after a 60 Minutes investigation revealed he had lied on his CV.

A number of Kiwis have joined the meme, which embellishes Wilce’s outlandish claims, and throws some new ones in for good measure.

Robyn Paterson tweets “God said ‘got a pen?’ so I grabbed one and started taking dictation. Stoked to see the Bible’s still selling well.”

Richard Boock pokes fun at Wilce’s Olympic bobsled claims. “You know the English Olympic bobsled team? Well, I was the bobsled.”

Steve Holl tweets “I said to Maui ‘Use a pipi, you’ll catch a really big one.”

MP Shane Jones was the last New Zealander to receive the Twitter meme treatment, with the infamous hash tag #shanejonespornotitles.

The Labour government employed Thompson in an easily corruptable managerial position in the immigration department, and also appointed Wilce to an even more sensitive position. Maybe he would have been found out earlier if he also claimed to have a PhD from the London School of Economics.
Had there not been a change in government, Wilce may well have been lost his job to Osama Bin Laden who would have claimed to have masterminded 911. At least that CV would have been honest and correct.
