Fri, 04 Sep 2009 12:00a.m.
Firefighters battled two separate blazes in central New Zealand overnight - one in a large Palmerston North building and the other in a Video Ezy shop in Porirua.
The first fire was reported just after midnight at the old Manawatu Bowling Club. Extra crews were called in from nearby areas and it was brought under control just before 2am.
And in Porirua, firefighters were called to the Video Ezy in a three-storey shopping centre at 3:30am - it was brought under control in an hour.
The cause of each fire is not yet known.
