There have been two fatal crashes involving cars and pedestrians in Bay of Plenty this morning.
In the latest incident a person has been killed after being struck on Waioeka Road west of Opotiki.
The road is closed while the serious crash unit investigates.
In a separate incident a person has been killed on State Highway One, north of Tokoroa.
Two others have been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Inspector Kerry Watson says investigators are at the scene and have closed the road.
“We’ve got serious crash investigators at the scene, they will be inquiring into the incident to see what the circumstances were leading up to the collision and the fatality and a report will be made to the coroner.”
