Two people have been killed in a crash involving two cars on State Highway 2 at Mangatawhiri, near Pokeno.
The crash took place at around 1:20pm today.
3 News understands both of those killed were in one car, and that the occupants of the second vehicle were uninjured.
Diversions are in place at Koheroa Rd for northbound traffic, and at the SH1/SH2 northbound turnpike.
Emergency services are at the scene and the Counties-Manukau Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
They advise that the road around the crash scene will be closed for up to four hours.
