Two men have been charged with the theft of a boat which capsized in Tauranga Harbour last night and resulted in the disappearance of two other men.

The two accused aged 22 and 25 were on the boat but reached the shore after falling out, but another man Shaun Hogarth, 23, has not been seen since the boat capsized, and Liam Kane, 22, made it to the shore but then disappeared.

Search teams are continuing to look for Mr Hogarth in Tauranga Harbour, and police also want to find Mr Kane.

The boat was discovered by the Mount Surf Club at the bottom of the cliffs between Matakana Point and Tahunamanu Point.
