Two aftershocks less than a minute apart shook Cantabrians last night.
The first was just after 11.30pm and measured 4.5 on the Richter scale and was 11km deep, centred 10km from Christchurch.
The second followed just a minute later, but was centred 20km northwest of Blenheim and much deeper at 70km with a magnitude of 4.6.
The second quake was on a different fault line to Christchurch’s previous jolt.
