Biden’s gaffe: 'I'm proud to be president'

By 3 News online staff

United States Vice President Joe Biden has been caught on camera accidentally referring to himself as “the president”.

Mr Biden was speaking at the Iowa State Inaugural Ball in Washington, DC, on the eve of President Barack Obama’s inauguration into his second term of office.

“I’m proud to be President of the United States,” he says in the video.

After a brief pause the crowd bursts into laughter, and Biden acknowledges his mistake.

“I’m proud to be Vice President of the United States, but I’m prouder to be […] Barack Obama’s vice president,” he says.

“Well, there goes that.”

Watch the video.
