Two senior US diplomats are scheduled to arrive in Myanmar in what is being billed as a shift from Washington's longtime policy of shunning the military-ruled nation to one of engagement.
US Embassy spokesman Richard Mei says the two will meet senior government leaders as well as democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi during the two-day fact-finding mission.
Assistant Secretary of State for East Asia and Pacific Kurt Campbell and his deputy Scot Marciel will fly from the Thai capital, Bangkok, to Myanmar's administrative capital, Naypyitaw, on Tuesday.
