Coach Paul Temple sees the Young Football Ferns' trip to Argentina as a great chance to build momentum ahead of their Oceania qualifiers.

The New Zealanders will face their Argentine under-17 counterparts in two friendlies in Buenos Aires on February 24 and 27.

It will be their first time back in action since they beat Australia in a three-match series 2-0 in October.

The Young Football Ferns are looking to make the Under-17 Women's World Cup in Azerbaijan in September and October, and the Oceania qualifying tournament will be held in Auckland in April.

"The timing is fantastic for us and it keeps the momentum going from the trans-Tasman games last year," coach Paul Temple said.

"This will be a very different test as Argentina will be primed and match ready as they have their qualifiers due to start in early March in Bolivia."

Temple will take an 18-strong squad to Argentina and all bar Canada-based Emma Fletcher played in the national women's youth league.

Young Football Ferns squad for Argentina:

Goalkeepers - Lily Alfeld (Coastal Spirit), Ronisa Lipi (Waterside Karori);

Defenders - Meikayla Moore (Canterbury School of Football), Laura Merrin (Coastal Spirit), CJ Bott (Waterside Karori), Emily Jensen (Richmond), Chloe Wilson (Lynn-Avon United), Chloe Knott (Canterbury School of Football);
