If Netane Takau looks familiar, it's because he's the Unitec student fronting a new reality style ad campaign.

But as tends to happen with 'reality', sometimes things go wrong.

In Netane's case this came in the shape of a failed exam in a vital second year paper.

So what happens when real life interferes with a carefully planned marketing campaign?

Tristram Clayton caught up with Netane before, and after, he re-sat his make-or-break exam.

The adverts certainly are impressive. There is no doubt either that we need more folk like Netane. However, I fear that there are also a number of courses at our universities and polytechs which are unlikely to lead to employment.
