Ford fans this weekend will be taken on a trip down memory lane to one of their most memorable moments in Bathurst history.
In 1977, Ford drivers Allan Moffat and Colin Bond completed a famous ‘Ford 1-2 finish’.
The image etched in many Ford fan’s memories will be the aerial shot (Pictured) of Moffat in the number 1 car and Bond in the number 2 Falcon GT crossing the line with only split seconds separating them.
The grandstand finish was set up under team orders and it certainly gave Ford fans on the day and even those today a real ‘rev’ up.
This weekend the memory of 1977 lives on and the historic 1-2 finish is being marked in a special way on Sunday.
The Ford team will have white and black retro liveries on the Falcon’s of Mark Winterbottom/Steve Richards and Will Davison/John McIntyre at Bathurst.
“It’s an honour to go there as a factory Ford driver racing with the colours from arguably the company’s greatest moment. Our cars look amazing and I think we’ve really done justice to the 1977 team,” Davison says.
