Gonzaga’s Matt Borda scored an amazing lacrosse goal with just seconds left on the clock.
Borda stepped behind his own goal to throw a full-field pass as his side nursed a one goal lead, but instead the sophomore defenseman hoped to get the clock moving and all but end the game.
Monday’s (US-time) Washington Catholic Athletic Conference boys’ lacrosse championship lit up when Borda netted from beyond the length of the field.
The heave found the back of the net for an improbable insurance goal that sent Borda sprinting around high-fiving his defensive teammates and got the Eagles on the sideline bouncing. With a second straight title-game comeback for Gonzaga assured, the play proved a well-deserved chance to kick off the celebration of its 10-8 win a little early.
