English golfer Andrew Marshall won a £100,000 car after he hit a hole in one during the second day of the BMW International Open.

Marshall hit the winning drive on the par-three 17th and it helped the 38-year-old to a second round score of 67 to leave him five under par, six shots off the leader Joel Sjoeholm.

Marshall, who plays on the Challenge Tour, just could not believe what he had achieved.

"It was a massive adrenaline rush; I still can't believe it," Marshall said. "The crowd went wild behind the green to obvious indicate it had gone in.

"Of course it's not just any par three, it's a BMW Gran Coupé 6 Series there so it's like, it's just too unreal. I still can't believe it."

Marshall turned professional in 1995 and joined the European Tour in 2001 but had to drop down to the Challenge Tour again in 2008. Marshall admitted he had not hit many hole in ones during his 16-year career.

"I think that's five or six now," Marshall added. "I haven't had any for a while, when I was a junior I had a couple. I haven't had many really but that makes up for everything."

Marshall has one professional win to his name; the Englishman won the 2005 PartyPoker.com Classic on the PGA EuroPro Tour.
