A mediocre match between Newcastle and Arsenal turned sour when Arsenal’s Gervinho was seemingly brought down in the box – the result, a scuffle with players coming from everywhere.

Joey Barton went straight to Gervinho (on debut) and fists flew briefly (more of a push) before the ref gained control and cards – red and yellow were dished out. Gervinho saw the red. Barton earlier hit the deck like a sack of spuds in a piece befitting a C-grade Hollywood flick and some play acting that has the finger pointing at his soft as marshmellow attitude.
