A security car was found at the bottom of Auckland’s Mt Eden crater early this morning.

The First Security car, believed to have rolled into the crater overnight, was found upside down and had suffered severe damage.

Tow trucks pulled the wreckage from the crater at lunchtime today.

It is believed the car was unoccupied when it rolled into the crater, and police say there have been no reports of injuries.

A council spokeswoman told Auckland Now they are working with local iwi and archaeologists to make sure no damage has been done to the site.

The Mt Eden summit is currently closed to vehicles but still accessible to pedestrians.

Yep Mr Tee. It should read "now Auckland ratepayers are funding iwi and archaeologists to look at a hole" Yup. It is. That will be $20,000 thank you.

Classic waste of time and money - 'Local council working with Iwi and Archeologists to make sure no damage has been done' hahaha is a fricken hole in the ground you idiots! OMG how the world has changed for the worse. Meanwhile elsewhere real issues are being ignored while these clowns make sure a hole hasn't been damaged. hahaha
