The photofinish - a dead heat

US training partners Allyson Felix and Jeneba Tarmoh were involved in a third-place dead heat in the 100 metres at the trials for the US Olympic team prompting a strange scenario – a possible coin toss for Olympics selection.

Both athletes clocked 11.068 seconds and the photo finish showed chests were precisely in line.

The result will mean they wait with bated breath over who will get the final spot for US team selection for the London 2012 Olympics.

Each will get to pick between a coin toss or a rematch head-to-head, and if both athletes choose the same option, it will determine how the tiebreaker is conducted. But if the athletes disagree, the tiebreaker will be a runoff. If the athletes decline a preference, the tiebreaker will be a coin toss.

The coach for both sprinters said they won't make any kind of decision until after they complete the 200 metres later this week.
