Danny Welbeck got scoring under way in the last-16 tie between Real Madrid and Manchester United in the Champions League at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Spain.
United won a corner in the 20th minute and Welbeck headed it home. Real’s keeper Lopez came for the ball but failed to get there and the flick from Welbeck was superb.
But the lead didn’t last until the half, the first 45 minutes a tale of two headers, with Cristiano Ronaldo getting things back on a equal foot as he powerfully headed home a Angel Di Maria cross from 13 yards.
There was no celebration from the star striker who has scored more than a goal a game for Madrid but inside he must have been jumping for joy.
