Spain's Dani Pedrosa led the MotoGP Hondas at Germany's Sachsenring track as he posted a 1:22.357 time in morning practice to go faster than team mate Casey Stoner.

The afternoon session was wet for both MotoGP and Moto2 riders so only Moto3 practiced in the dry throughout.

Third fastest was 2010 world champion Jorge Lorenzo. Andrea Dovizioso was fourth ahead of his team mate Cal Crutchlow, who is still suffering from a broken ankle.

Sixth was Hector Barbera, ahead of another Ducati of Nicky Hayden in seventh.

Alvaro Bautista was eighth while Germany's Stefan Bradl only set ninth fastest in front of his home crowd.

Former world champion Valentino Rossi is down in 11th place on the list.

In the Moto2 category Pol Espargaro of Spain was fastest in 1:25.179 with compatriot Marc Marquez second, despite a big crash which wrecked his bike.

Third was Bradley Smith with Mikka Kallio fourth.

In Moto3 it was Maverick Vinales who posted fastest time with Jakub Kornfeil second and Danny Kent third.

Vinales posted a 1:28.661 in the afternoon session which ended just before the rain began.

Qualifying takes place on Saturday (July 7) with the races on Sunday (July 8)
