Tears were shed by German GP3 racer Daniel Abt after he came second in the penultimate race at Monza, losing the series to New Zealand’s Mitch Evans.
Abt went into the Italian Grand Prix feature as the least likely to upstage Evans’ title charge but finished strongly in the qualifying race after Evans had to retire early on.
Needing to come first in the final race, Abt lead up until the penultimate lap when he was overtaken by Cypriot Tio Ellinas, to come second in a dramatic finish to the series.
