Manchester City coach Roberto Mancini said that England could have won this summers European Championship with Fabio Capello in charge.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of his sides visit to Aston Villa on Sunday, Mancini said that England have lost a good manager who could have led them to victory in this summers tournament in Poland and Ukraine.

"I don't know the reason but I can say that the national team has lost a top manager, and I think with Fabio they could have had a big chance to win the European Championships," he said, before throwing his weight behind the call for Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp to lead the side.

"I read the newspaper and I think that that could be a good choice for the England team because Harry has experience and he is doing his job now very well so why not," he said.

Mancini also took time to speak about his teams upcoming encounter with Aston Villa, who feature several former City players in their current squad.

"We are not playing Manchester City v Given, Ireland and Dunne, we are playing Aston Villa v Manchester City and Aston Villa are a good team and have good players so if we want to win in Birmingham then we will have to play a very good game. Now the other things are not important because Shay and Ireland are playing in a good team" he said.

After the African cup of Nations has concluded Mancini is looking forward to welcoming back the Toure brothers to strengthen his Uefa Cup squad

"We are lucky because next week we only have one game in Porto which is the first leg in the Europa League, and after we don't play in the Premier League, so we have time to recover for Yaya and Kolo" he said.

The Italian coach believes his side must focus only on their own performance, if they are to succeed in the Premier League.

"No I said always we can't think about the other teams, we know the season is long and we have 14 games left and every game is difficult. We need to think about the our games, United and Tottenham, we know that if we want to win the Barclay's Premier League then we should win a lot of games from now until the end, and for this reason we can't waste our strength thinking about other teams" he said.
