Olivier Giroud spoke of his excitement after completing his move to English Premier League side Arsenal.
The 25-year-old French forward passed a medical before agreeing terms at the club's training ground.
The completion of the transfer is now just the subject of "formal processes", according to Arsenal.
Giroud, whose contract with Arsenal will commence on July 1, insisted he will fight for his place in the side, with Robin van Persie, Lukas Podolski and Marouane Chamakh all vying for starting berths in Arsene Wenger's team next season.
The newest capture arrives in north London from French champions Montpellier, where 21 goals in 36 league appearances made him the French league's joint top goalscorer last season and also earned him a place in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year.
Giroud, who enjoyed a two-year spell at the Stade de la Mosson and who broke into the national team in November 2011, flew to London after representing France at Euro 2012 where they exited to Spain in the quarter-finals.
With Arsenal boss Wenger having expressed his delight at the capture, Giroud added that he hopes to repay the manager's faith by scoring the goals that will allow the North London club to flourish on all fronts next season.
Arsenal entertain Sunderland at the Emirates on Sunday 12th August in their opening game of the new campaign.
