New Warriors Coach Brian ‘Bluey’ McClennan says he is happy with the level the side is at, following their successful 26-10 pre-season hit out against the Gold Coast Titans.
It was a bitter-sweet start for the team, losing one of its star players after a big tackle tore Jacob Lillyman's bicep off its tendon during the match at North Harbour Stadium.
The injury has put his season on hold.
But overall, McClennan says he is pleased with his team’s performance.
“I thought conditioning was very good, we looked pretty physical – we were able to enjoy the game really well,” he says.
“Obviously there is a lot of things we can improve on with our systems and our structures. We’ll work hard with those – and have been during the week here.
“Hopefully we can take it into the game on Saturday.
McClennan says it’s not so much abut opposition, but about the Warriors players and what they can do.
“This is a team that’s got used to winning; they like it. There’s some decent habits there. We’ve just gotta keep working at those and improve.”
