Pregame Banter:

Roberto Mancini has accepted that the Premier League crown is out of reach as Manchester City sit 15 points behind arch-rivals Manchester United going into the final stages of the season.

But City still have plenty to play for with Chelsea bearing down on second place and they face a Newcastle side that is flirting with the fringes of a relegation battle.

History is certainly on City’s side with the Sky Blues winning the last 10 of these sides 12 meetings and Newcastle haven’t won in Manchester since Alan Shearer scored the winner in September 2000.

A big boost for City is the return of Vincent Kompany who risked his calf injury when he played for Belgium over the international break much to the ire of Mancini.
