Justin Marshall and Sonny Bill Williams hand over the cheques

There was a special ending to the Super Rugby Playoff between the Crusaders and Sharks.

Sonny Bill Williams and Sky Television both donated large cheques toward the Red Cross appeal for the devastating earthquakes that have hit Christchurch in recent months.

Sky donated $264,315 with Williams adding to that with a cheque of $100,000 out of his own pocket.

The money will go toward the people of Christchurch with Sonny Bill Williams saying he felt “morally obliged” to help out.

I just hope the 'Red Cross' do the right thing with it, as I was very disappointed in their first response to the 'affected' in Feb, children did not benefit at all and a couple received the same $500 as a family of 6 or 8. My family who lost their home, three sons over school age, all had to find refuge in different places, till we could find a rental, got to share $500 between the five of us AND our Lodger! They had to redeem themselves by paying out to children who had had to shift schools! Let's see what they come up with next. And let's hope all monies given totally will be spent in Christchurch and not held onto
