Sailors Blair Tuke and Peter Burling cemented themselves in history when they won New Zealand’s 100th medal at the London Olympics.
Tuke says the silver medal was made all the more special by the milestone.
“It definitely made it a bit more special and now forever we’re going to be the ones that won the 100th medal for New Zealand,” Tuke told Firstline this morning.
A statement echoed by the reception they received upon arrival at Auckland Airport.
“I didn’t quite expect the numbers to be that big and for there to be that much media,” says Burling.
“It was really awesome to see how much it meant to New Zealand.”
Firstline’s Sam Ackerman talks with Blair Tuke and Peter Burling about their history-making win.
