Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard has had a fall from grace during an official visit to India.

She is in the country for a series of economic talks, but came unstuck as she walked towards a media conference at the Gandhi Memorial in New Delhi.

High heels and soft grass didn't mix.

Ms Gillard was whisked off to meet India’s president after the minor gaffe, where she was given a full ceremonial welcome at the Presidential Palace.
