Five-time World Champion sculler Mahe Drysdale is on target for a top performance at the London 2012 Olympics despite a shoulder injury that has plagued his preparation.
He admits that his shoulder still gives him “a little bit of pain” but "rowing-wise it doesn’t affect" him at all.
Drysdale suffered a shoulder injury in a bike accident six weeks ago.
He says it’s “all coming together” and three weeks out off rowing has meant that a long-standing back injury is now in the best shape its been for two years.
And he’s confident.
“Better shape than I was going into the Worlds last year”, says Drysdale, where he won gold..
He’s also competing at a venue – Eton – that he loves.
The comeback from injury, he says, has been better than expected.
