The first time British Sydney to Hobart and round-the-world solo sailor Alex Thomson pulled off the stunt in 2009 no one though it was real – so he’s done it again.

Thomson took a jet ski to the yacht and pulled off the stunt to prove that the first attempt had nothing to do with Photoshop.

"Everyone always assumes it was Photoshopped and I was determined to prove them wrong, so we decided to try again," Thomson said of the stunt performed in Britain.

In the perilous manoeuvre his yacht Hugo Boss heeled over so far that its 4.5 tonne keel was exposed to the air - allowing Thomson to jump on for what surely rated as the ride of his life.

It took Thomson three attempts before he pulled the feat off.
