Gio Aplon went from hero to villain.

You won’t see a much better try than the one scored at Rugby Park in Hamilton tonight in the Super 15 rugby match between the Chiefs and the Stormers. Aplon – the hero.

The only trouble for New Zealand conference supporters was that it was scored by right wing Aplon.

Aplon received the ball off his Stormers teammate and then made every post a winner as he carved his way to the line around some of the best defensive players in New Zealand rugby – including Super Rugby centurion and All Black Mils Muliaina.

But then Aplon became villain early in the second half.

Richard Kahui broke through for the Chiefs and chipped ahead. He towed it and it was a footrace with Aplon being judged to interfere with Kahui. He got a yellow card and the penalty try was awarded.

Watch the video for the try.

lol, it doesn't matter in the slightest that it was minimal, any intentional contact like such in the motion of scoring a try is an instant yellow and penalty try.
