A San Francisco Giants fan remains in a coma on Monday (US-time)after allegedly being attacked by fans of rivals Los Angeles Dodgers last Thursday night.

It appears that Bryan Stow, a 42-year-old Giants fan, was knocked unconscious after hitting his head as he fell, following an altercation after the game.

Stow was injured - reportedly critically - after the team's opening-night defeat to Los Angeles at Dodgers Stadium.

"People were heckling him which is, you know, happens all the time. But they were blowing it off and when they got to the car, two guys came out of nowhere. Both of them pushed Bryan from behind, he never saw them coming and Bryan fell forward and hit his head on the concrete and was immediately knocked unconscious,” says David Collins, Victim's Brother-In-Law

Police said that Stow's assailants kicked him for about 15 seconds after he was down on the ground. A paramedic and a father of two, Stow had to be rushed to hospital.

"They had to take him in to surgery and remove part of his skull to let the brain pressure relieve. So, sorry, it's kind of emotional for me.

"He's in a medically induced coma and the swelling just wouldn't go down so they had to remove part of the skull."

The two Dodgers fans apparently disappeared into the large crowd leaving the stadium after the game and are still at large. The LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) has offered a US$ 10,000 reward for information leading to their arrest.

"There's a full investigation going on now trying to identify the suspects and other possible witnesses involved in this incident,” says Detective P.J. Morris, LAPD.

The Dodgers and Giants concluded their four-game series on Sunday night, but will play at Dodger Stadium again on May 18th.
